Dr. Francesc Valldeoriola graduated as M.D. by the University of Barcelona in 1988 and specialized in Neurology at the Hospital Clínic i Provincial de Barcelona in 1995. After specialization, he further received international training at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire, Grenoble (France) (Head: Dr. Pierre Pollak), the Emory University, Atlanta (USA) (Head: Dr. Malon. DeLong), and the Northwestern Hospital, Toronto (Canada) (Head: Dr. A. Lozano). In 2003, Dr. Valldeoriola obtained his doctoral degree on functional alterations in reflexes circuits in the brain stem in parkinsonian patients by de University of Barcelona (cum laude, doctoral extraordinary award). Since 2020 Dr Valldeoriola is the Head of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Unit. of Hospital Clinic of Barcelona Currently, where he is specialized staff in deep brain stimulation and movement disorders, and also as Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Barcelona. He is member of the Catalan Neurological Society, the Movement Disorder Society, the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques «August Pi i Sunyer», the grupo de Estudio de
Trastornos del Movimiento de la Sociedad Española de Neurología, or the Brainstem Reflexes Society. His achievements include more than 280 publications in indexed journals and books, 250 presentations to meetings and congresses, 250 invited conferences, the participation in more than 50 clinical trials, or the organization of more than 30 national and international courses on deep brain Stimulation and movement disorders among others.
