He has published more than 70 articles in peer reviewed magazines and he is a member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Medicine and of the Academy of Sciences of Ecuador.

Dr. Teran has advocated publicly in favor of Tobacco Harm Reduction in many opportunities and he is a founding member in the newly created Latinoamerican net for Tobacco Harm Reduction (Reldat).

Dr. Teran has organized and chaired in Ecuador a Conference about Quitting smoking and Public Health, that took place on March 2021
